After spending many hours trying to find a post that addressed which cases were the best fit for the XHA1, I figured I would chime in with my solution.
Inside a Pelican 1550 hardcase, I was able to fit the XHA1 camera, sunshade, a two-stage 4x5.65 hard shade Cavision mattebox (MB4169H-2), eyebrow, Cavision RS15IIM support plate, 10 inch 15mm carbon fiber rods, Hoodman H-300 LCD magnifier, remote, two batteries and charger, camera mic, component and composite cables, 5 HDV tapes, manual and a few other small accessories like, allen wrenches, Swiss Army knife with flathead screwdriver (for tightening support plate), micro fiber lens cloth, camera strap, etc.
Granted this is not the best solution for run-n-gun work because you have to partially build the camera. The support plate is already attached to the camera, but you still have to slide the rails into the support plate and attach the mattebox. This was a fair trade off considering the camera on the support plate with mattebox would not fit inside a 16x9 or other softcase.
It took me a long time to figure out exactly how everything would fit, including under the mattebox. But if you are looking for the protective nature of hard cases in a practical size (that is allowed as "carry-on" for commercial airline flights) this case is worth checking out.
Note: It may look cramped, but it is not. Other than the component cable, composite cable and the on-board mic which are gently set on top of the camera everything else fits ok.
