XHA1 and really wide screen

hi, i've seen some work the xha1 like this

where the screen is really wide like a movie theatre

i'm not able to get that from my xha1 - is he just filming and capturing normally, but cutting off the top and bottom in post?

You use the 2:35.1 aspect guides on your a1 to help with framing and crop to that in post.

That's the way to fake 2.35:1. It's also possible to capture in that format by using an anamorphic adapter

This is designed to get 16:9 out of the DVX, but it will work to get 2.35:1 out of the A1. Of course this brings along a whole host of other problems with monitoring and editing.

By adding the adapter you get distortions to the image, while you at the same time can use the entire CCD surface.

Its one step forward and two steps backward in many cases.


Like Super35 vs Anamorphic35 for high budget movies.


Anamorphic adapter should be used for estetic reason and not quality reasons.
