Hey, does any one know if you shoot HDV format in the XH-A1, will that mini DV tape play in any brand HDV camcorder?
I own the A1 and I don't want to burn out the motor when editing, I'd like to get the least expensive HDV camcorder out there, for the work load-- no what I mean?
Did the same thing with my XL 1s and bought a $300. JVC camcorder for the load.
I know I can go with the HV20 but I was looking for something cheaper if I can find it! thx John
 
If you shoot 1080i you should be able to use any HDV camcorder for playback. But if you shoot 24F (or 25F) only the XH-A1 or HV20 or HV30 can play it back.

But look on the bright side, the HV30 is a hell of a good value back-up camcorder. It is well worth the money. Look here for sample HV30 footage:

I believe the HV10 will playback 24f and 30f but not record 24f and 30f. For that you would need the hv20 or hv30.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.
