I have a friend who just purchased a XH-A1 he has to shoot a interview this week, and although he has been playing with the camera to learn it, what is a popular setting that some of you experience users use to shoot interviews with good results ? I have a Panasonic and I am not familiar with the XH-A1, thanks

put it in manual mode, and adjust for the conditions (light, etc).
there are some neat presets out there that he can use if he wants http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=80279 not sure if any really help out with interviews but can't hurt to try. I've been using the stock settings for the past month on a documentary (lots of interviews) and everything looks great so far

The default settings for the A1 are flat (low contrast, washed out looking) to allow for color correction in post. If you don't want to do color correction in post then use the presets.

Popular presets for color saturation (depending on your lighting) are ones like VividRGB, Truecolor, Panacolor, NaturalO, etc.

The A1 is a great camera. Turn the AGC off! Set your manual gain positions to -3db, 0db and 6db. Always try to use -3 or 0 if possible. Don't go higher than 6db. Learn those manual controls.

I personally do all my color correcting in post so I don't mess around with presets so much
