I'm having a crisis here.
I was importing HD footage into imovie '09 on a macbook. The tape ran until the end and the footage was all coming up in the imovie monitor. When the tape ended, the canon XH A1 shut off. The footage hadn't all captured (there may have been a disk space issue), but more importantly the camera won't turn on at all. Nothing. The tape is still stuck in there.
I've tried different batteries (it was powered by the ac adapter at the time), checked the lock switches many times, tried slowly switching through the mode/power switch repeatedly, plugging back into the firewire, pushing the master reset button...
I had been shooting outside during the day, and there was a lot of moisture, but I'm pretty sure the camera didn't get more than a drop or two on there, and the shut-down happened hours later inside a warm, dry house.
It almost seems like the firewire/software caused it, given the timing.
Has anybody heard of anything like this with the XH A1? Ideas? Also if anybody has tips for just getting the tape out of there without damaging anything, that would be a great first step.
Thanks!
