XH-A1 Battery

I've noticed that this site has an advertisement for a $79, 5600mah Lithium Ion battery for the DVX and HVX series. I just made the jump from DVX100 to Canon's XH-A1. Is there a similar battery offered? I'm in the market for a nice big battery at a nice low price.

Hey Alan, just curious whether you bought from youbatt before? I do need a new battery and those are just some really low prices. Can't find them on resellerratings so just wonder if they're a scam or something.

Jade Unfortunately I haven't I saw somewhere a thread that mentioned them but i can't remember where I will try and trace the thread for you and let you know. Alan

Just to follow up, I ended up buying this:

Ebay... I got two 6600mAh for like $40.... The batteries are of surprisingly good build quality... The longevity is yet to be determined as I have only had them about a week....

I used to think ebay was the way to go, but had had some bad experiences. Don't know if it's bad luck or whatever but several different power sellers simply didn't ship the batteries for my FX1, almost screwing me over on a shoot.

I bought 2 BP-970G batteries from youbatt.com last month, they arrived in good shape. Since they are compatible batteries, not OEM, that's why the price is so low. I have been using them without any problem since then. Best service ever.

Ah, what a shame, I just went ahead and spent $100 on an Impact battery. It's been good so far, just wish I could have known this sooner, lol.

jeremyminer did you get a request of photocopy of your credit card (front and back) and a photo ID? I just got an email from a Customer rep from ebatts requesting it and I would say thats pretty dodgy if they are asking for it. I emailed them to say I dont think this is right.

No, they asked for no such thing. How strange. Good for you for not doing that. I wouldn't either.

Also, I finally got a chance to use the battery. It is too big by less than a mm. What that means is that it fits in, but the springs don't push it back out. I had a scary moment until I found this thread which shows how someone made a pull-tab out of gaffer tape. I did it with packing tape and it works fine.

I could probably return it, but now that I have a solution I think I'll just stay with it. Just be aware that aftermarket batteries might get stuck in your XH-A1.

Well they kept asking for the copies so told them to cancel the order, man I am glad I didn't get the batteries after all the hastle to then not fitting properly into my camera would have made me pretty mad. So not sure where I am supposed to post warnings about sites but Ebatts.com is dodgy

No one should be requesting photocopies of front and back of the credit card. thats the point of the secure server and asking enough questions on the fillout form to confirm that I am the owner of the card.

If the moderators could maybe put this in a dodgy dealer section (I couln't find the thread for it) that would be great and save alot of hastle for any other buyers.

I got my ebatts batteries today in the mail and let me confirm a few things:

1) spent a good 20 minutes on the phone with a company rep. Although dodgy for the copy of the credit card, i have verbal recordings should anything happen. They are also aware that my family works at the head offices of my bank in Montreal. I made a few things clear in case of any wrong doings on their end, because as you have said, none have ever asked for this kind of thing in the past.

2) batteries arrived in good time, no problems nor any DOA.

3) they are EXACTLY the same shape as the canon battery. So not a single problem with fitting. They pop in and spring out just like the stock battery. They also came almost completely charged. Still have tests to do to see their longevity.

I'm a new owner of a canon a1 and am in need of a longer lasting battery, the one that came with camera is a smaller size....so...are these battereies you guys ordered still holding up? havent eploded and ruined your camera yet? Still hold a good charge? If so, i think i'll be ordering one aswell, it'll save me just about $200!
