Xh-a1 1.1

Okay, i've seen a lot of videos shot with the A1. i've read almost everything about it i could find on the net. And i really wanna buy one,.. but there are two f*cking things that i can't get out of my head:

1. The apparent CA problem
and 2. The bad LCD-display quality - in comparison with e.g. the FX1. (but I could live with that)

I can't remember where, but I'm pretty sure that I've read that Canon may try to enhance the CA problem and bring out a B-version. Does anyone know if this is correct, and if so: when will the "new" A1 be available.

The XHA1 just entered the market so another B version is not going to happen soon. And if you want a cam I suppose you want it now. You say 'a apparent CA problem', but it's something that in most circumstances is not noticeable. It definitely is not a problem, on what video did you notice CA? I looked for it and found it on a "still" I published here. The LCD is better than -lets say the hvx lcd-, but not like the terrific Z1. I can use it for focussing.

lcd is small but entirely acceptable. Being able to focus on the fly is very important for the stuff I do and I haven't had a problem. Also no CA issues as yet.
It's a sweet camera, especially for the price.

same, no problems ore noticeable CA here.

generally youll get CA if you arent properly explosed. Do proper lighting, light within the contrast ratios and lattitude of the camera, and you're set!

All the cameras have CA to some degree. It's more noticeable with the A1 at the wide end with the iris wide open, but it's fairly slight overall. Each lens has a sweet spot so work within its strengths and be aware of where it might have some limitations.

It's a 20x zoom afterall. A very useable wide end with a ton of telephoto and very good OIS. And we're gonna ***** about a little CA here and there?

Nothing's perfect, but it's a hell of a lot of range for the money.

Yes, I also find the LCD to be useable. The Z1's are easily the best, but I actually like the batwing arrangement of the A1's, and it's sharp enough with peaking engaged to focus with.

Don't hold off because of the LCD. The Canon's is adequate for the job and, frankly, I think Sony will always have the best LCD. Its just something they do incredibly well.

The LCD is pretty bad but at this price range you can't find a good on camera LCD anyway (I found even the FX1 LCD to be inadequate for color accuracy). For focusing, the A1 LCD works. I think an external monitor is a must for all of these cameras.
