No advice - but interested in your results. How did it go in low light? How wide is full zoom out. Did you manage the switchable zoom, iris, focus thing - how would you manage this in a wedding real time? Do you think it would suit that work?

I came to the XF from a DVC30 - little brother to the DVX - and from an HMC40. Love the XF100, but it needs lots of tweaking out of the box. It is set for VERY flat color and contrast, so I actually wasn't knocked out with it until I did a few custom picture settings. If you've seen unimpressive clips on the web, it's almost certainly due to the camera still using the factory setup. With the right settings, it's as sharp as the HMC40, MUCH better in low light and has a wider angle lens. I only use Canon-recommended compact flash cards, and always shoot at the 50mps settings, either 1080 30p, 720 30p, or 720 60p.

Over at dvinfo.net there is a good XF100/300 forum that gives some excellent settings if you want to explore that further. Look for messages by a guy named Lou Bruno. I got most of my initial settings from his posts and adjusted further to suit my taste.
