XF Codec - does it play well with FCP 6/7?

Never used Canon's XF. Does it play natively with FCP 6 or 7? If not, is there a 'raylight' equivalent? The whole process of trancoding and doubling files seems redundant and a huge time waster. I've always avoided it with P2's DVCPROHD and AVCINTRA by using raylight.

Thanks,
Jason

works with final cut studio.....not FCX......apparently, a fix is coming for X. Once you load in the XF utility into your system, you bring the footage in as "native" and edit with that. Don't take it in and transcode it to ProRes 422....all you do is double your file size and gain nothing. The XF codec is virtually the same as ProRes (its actually a derivative of XDcam)

Yes, works like a charm in FCP 6/7. For FCPX users, use a program called XfcpX to rewrap the codec into .mov files to edit without transcoding. No need to transcode into Prores as the XFcodec is quite lovely.
