Not sure if I should bother updating my C200 firmware or not. I don't know the difference between XF-AVC and MP4.

I used to shoot AVCHD on my C100, but now will probably switch to MP4 so that both cameras are shooting the same codec. Unless someone could explain why I would want to prefer one codec over the other, it seems like an arbitrary choice to me.

mostly because of customizable file-naming so not every first clip on a disk is named clip 0001.mp4 but : A007C065_180712FR_NAME1.MXF
A=camera A
007=reel 7
c065=clip 65
180712=date 12 juli 2018
NAME1 =project name

when shooting raw and xf-avc proxies both files wil follow the same naming structure which is usefully for obvious reasons .

O, and with xf-avc you'll get the option for 24bit audio instead of 16bit.

Just make sure it works with your edit system. The version of FCP X I'm using at the moment doesn't support that codec. And doing a passthrough transcoding with EditReady, it is super sluggish to edit. I think it works fine with the latest version.

Are you on FCP 10.3.4?
