C200: XF-AVC and FCPX

I can't seem to import the new XF-AVC files into FCPX.

All its seeing is the audio from the files and not the video.

Am I missing something?

Resolve is seeing everything so the files are fine, it seems to be FCPX that isn't playing nice.

I thought I downloaded the add-on from Canon for XF-AVC support, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Thanks for the heads up Tim. Note to self, do NOT download new C200 firmware. Yet. I too edit in FCP X, you on 10.3.4 or 10.4.1?

10.4

I don't think it's a camera firmware issue, because I can open the files just fine in Resolve, I think it's a FCPX issue.

So even if you do update, you can just use MP4 until it's fixed in FCPX, that's what I did.

Also, when you do update your camera, make sure you format your card after you update.
For what ever reason, FCPX will not open if you have the firmware on your SD card and mounted in your computer.
No idea why. But I had the SD card with the firmware still on it plugged into my Mac, and FCPX would not start up.
The splash screen would come up for maybe a second and then it would crash every single time.

Once I removed the SD card from my computer, good as new, FCPX opened perfectly.
Go figure.

I’ve heard that support will be added in 10.4.1 which is set for release on Monday

Good to hear.
Canon did say they had to make a new version of XF-AVC for the C200 so that would make sense why the old plug-ins wouldn't work.

Kind of infuriating that they had to go back to the drawing board to design a downgraded, crappier, lower data and bit-rate XF-AVC codec when most of us would have been thrilled even with the XC-15 305 Mbps version. Grrr.....
