XC10 or XC15 - internal vs external (10-bit?) recording

As I understand it, the XC10 will output 10-bit from its HDMI. Has anyone compared internal 8-bit to external 10-bit recording?

Thanks.

The HDMI out is stronger but the internal 8bit 422 is quite robust. Obviously to get the 10bit you need to go out to a recorder, defeating the small size of the XC-10/15

Makes sense. My experience with the Sony FS7 is that the 10-bit internal seems to make a noticeable difference for what I do vs 8-bit from the A7rii to external recorder at 4K. Wondering how much of that is 10-bit vs 8-bit.

But the codec in the XC-10/15 is a high bitrate 8bit 422. Far better than the A7rII codec. Then there is the color of the Canon vrs the Sony.

Yes -- it's still not the norm for cameras to output 10-bit, especially for when the XC10 was made/released. (XC15 just had minor additions.)

A Canon Rep incorrectly stated that the XC10 outputed 10 bit from the HDMI when it was first released. I'm thinking it was an interview with Newsshooter. Anyway, the rumor was never officially corrected so you can still see reports that the XC10/15 does 10 bit even though it most definitely does not.
