X-Men 3

I saw the movie tonight... I really enjoyed it... I'm gonna' say 8 to 8.5 out of 10... what movie gets a 10?

Raiders... Shawshank... stuff like that. Still I highly recommend this flick... definitely a big screen kinda' movie... and yeah, I have a problem with the balance of powers and the timing of their use, as well as some basic logic and common sense issues between characters... but what can I say... I really enjoyed this movie... I'm looking forward to the DVD already. Very clever ending... and clever again after the credits. For those confused by that part, you didn't pay enough attention in the beginning... since I didn't read the full 16 pages on this thread let's hope nobody is still in the dark on that point.

I need to add that I'm not a comic geek and I don't care about the comics behind the story (at this time)... I'm just a guy who likes to go see a movie for any combination of acting, story, visual candy, soundtrack including FX and dialog, and overall entertainment value. This movie satisfied my need for a mental escape into several of those categories... maybe I'm a simpleton... it worked for me.

the space between what X3 could have been and what it was is staggering. I thought it inhaled testicles. severely.

Was skeptical at first when I heard BRETT RATNER would be directing.

Then I thought, this couldn't possibly better than part 2.

Turns out Ratner didn't succeed in messing this up and part 3 is just as good as part 2.

I loved it.

Fast, moves well, great work from all involved with Sir Ian Mckellen towering above the rest (as is usu. the case in anything he's in)...

It was nice to see Michael Murphy... hadn't seen him in a long time...

And Famke Janssen... I have never liked this actress -- EVER -- * cold fish *... until X-MEN 2... in which that usu. frozen face of hers actually showed some emotions... here, she's back in semi-robotic mode, but somehow it works given the storyline...

Anyway, I really liked it...

Hope y'all stayed for the end credits...

(Did they really need Olivia Williams in the non-role of doctor/nurse? She's such a good actress...)

Actually she was playing Dr. Moira McTaggert an important character in the X men universe. Although she wasn't central to the story of Last Stand.

If someone picks up where that movie left off i imagine she will feature prominently.

Raiders? Shawshank? X-men 3?

I don't care for Spielberg, but come on, don't insult Steven like that.

There are many movies that are "10"s. Now, I know it is all relative, but movies that get all of the elements right(story, directing, acting, cine, editing, music, art, effects) deserve to be in the upper numbers.
X-men 3 was missing a story, acting, direction. Visually it was cool, but that was about it.
Even if you have never read the X-men comic book this film still falls to the side of movies like "The Last Starfighter" or "Alien vs. Predator" or "Independence Day". You know, the films you went to see for the effects, hoping there was enough story to carry you through the hour and thirty minutes?

Do you watch "American Idol"?

aw man now you like spielburg I'm calling everyone right now about this stuff matt.

heres the facts for XMEN

no substance, pop corn film that you can barely sit through within the first viewing. Insult to those who enjoy films and enjoy comic book films. insult to comic fans in general. insult those who write good stuff. Insult to good actors. Insult to what I believe was a decent director. Insult to my eyes and ears and my brain from remembering the movie as garbage. this movie is that. if you enjoy thats cool i guess but it shouldnt be ranked near good movie or great movies. this should be only on vhs and not even dvd. blu ray better not even see it, this movie aint worth the press time.

xmen was the biggest let down of comic book series movie yet. blade 1 and 2 are more watchable series. **** im gonna go watch blank man, metor man, and steel right now and then play shaq fu and michael jordan chaos in the windy city.

Dude I said I'd give X-Men an 8 to 8.5... NOT a 10... and then I defined what a 10 is in my book... so X-Men III was 20% lower... A solid "B"... no big deal, but read my post properly.

I never said it was in league with Raiders and Shawshank.

but if they are 10 and you gave it an 8 or 8.5 it is close to it. persoanlly to those films it like 3 if anything. honestly a 3.

I gave a broad definition of how I base my own opinions on a movie... as for overall entertainment value I had a good time.

Maybe there was a warm wind blowing, the stars were out, and the moon was shining bright... I don't know what to tell you... I enjoyed it.

I saw it at 10pm on a Sunday night and the theater was nearly empty... maybe that helped. Most of the time when I see a flick I'm so annoyed by all the dumbass people around me that I can't relax... dunno man... sometimes I thought it was really stupid, like porcupine guy was dumb... but within' minutes I was smiling again... "I'm the juggernaut *****"... I don't know... I was punchy by the end of it. It was fun. Other movies that have been touted recently are claimed to be cerebral... and I felt like I was in spiritual kindergarden... this flick doesn't have any pretense other then fun action... in my mind it delivered.

but even the action wasnt there. it was a 4 min war and it was stupid people running and yelling and doing dumb stuff to screw them selfs over.

Dude... have you ever considered the lax standards for architectural design here in the midwest united states? Isn't it possible that on this particular occasion that there was a terrible gas leak venting carbon monoxide into the theater... and that somebody slipped me blue-bambino in my razzberry slurpy... and that the intense amphetamine action of the BB was pushing my brain to the nether-regions of my subconscious as it was simultaneously kept in check by the elimination of oxygen and cerebral saturation from CO in my system?

What about that huh? Did you think of that? NO... you didn't DID YOU!

Perhaps somebody spilled chloroform on my headrest and accidentally replaced the popcorn salt with pure, 100% uncut columbian... huh... how about THAT?! Maybe I was skating the line of consciously dreaming and unconscious reasoning... and the movie was simply guiding me along a mind-trip that climaxed when I thought my ex-girlfriend from 10 years ago was flying around the theater calling me by my confirmation name "Logan"... you didn't think of that did you?

Pff... I didn't think so.

LOL and I do agree with you. I would watch this movie again I just say go watch it to have fun and don't think that it's going to follow the story and you'll be fine

I can watch space jam 30 more times before xmen 3 again.

Definetly. At least it wasn't pretentious shiite with a "supposed message", like X-Men 3. It was full of errors, character inconsistencies (These are screenplay errors), Amateurish errors (Day to night "transition"), unbelievable "the audience is stupid" action- Why not stick "the cure"to Jean? ; A person that loves fellow mutants (like Magneto), simply sends the troops to "die" ? Also, while the army was firing "the cure", X-men were actually Killing their oponents- try stickyng those Wolverine claws into anyone to see if they live; Storm literally fried her oponent, and so on. This supposedly from a group of heroes that tries to narrow the gap between Humans and mutants... Now, honestly, what else can you call this, but a big pile of shiite?

I thought it was shot very well, and the CG was off the hook. Does anyone have a link to any of the behind the scenes footage yet?

i watched the first xmen today and going to watch the 2nd one soon then the 3rd one because i have never seen any of them and the 1st one was great
