shoot, that rig'll get up and going QUICK!
AND- it comes loaded with the shtload of software he needs, right off the bat.

AAAANNNNNDDD- dare I say, a HELLOFA good price!

buyer gets fired up in an HOUR, making pictures right off the bat.... and wgzn is worried about a year or so down the line.
gotta chuckle on that one.

HEY- I don't know the seller from nowhere (so this ain't a schill).
it's right what the person asked for, with a 23" Cinema Display....
SWEET set up!

oh, so i guess it wasnt 2 months ago that i bought my adobe CS4 upgrade only to find out the new version of after effects REQUIRES an intel based mac and had to go out and buy a new $3000 machine...

my mistake.

- not trying to say that the advertised machine isnt good or a good deal. just trying to make the OP aware of the situation at hand...

You may want to add whether the original software CD/DVDs are included, as opposed to "pre-installed". In the two years I've had FCS2 installed on my computer I've had to re-install twice.

technically its illegal to advertise a computer with ANY software if the original discs are not included and license is transferred.

Yes it violates the End User License Agreement, but this varies from board to board whether computers can be packaged with software sans install discs. I know Craigslist is rampant with sellers trying to "sweeten" the deal by packaging gobs of software with computers.

The computer teayce is selling is still a very capable machine and it'll be a number of years before Apple drops support of G5s, yes, more and more software developers are releasing Intel only versions of their software.

I'll have a 2.0 GHz Core Duo Macbook Pro (first gen Intel mbp) up for sale in a few days - still 4 months of Apple Care left. That is if you're looking for a portable solution for cheap - probably $900

cheno

Oh yeh, i know about getting hosed with Adobe NOT telling folks about the CS3/CS4 Intel only requirement (I still have burn marks!)

It's just that this 'kit' the first seller posted would be plug-n-play instant access to what the buyer wants to do- and at a great price (I think the original price on the 23" screen was close to what he's asking for the whole set!)

And YES- it should be de rigueur all installed software is backed up with original disks/books and transfer of ownership.

Of course- that $900 Macbook Pro ain't a bad deal either!!
Choices, the guy's got choices now!!

If the original discs, and a license transfer are not included, and the seller doesn't completely remove the apps from any retained computer, it violates both Apple's and Adobe's EULA.

The purchaser would be then running pirated software.

Wow, I sure appreciate all the noise on the thread generated about my system for sale.
It seems however that I might be misleading any potential buyer by using the term "pre-installed."
I have removed this language from the post.
Instead, I will ship a completely clean system with nothing but the OS and iLife 08 - just like you'd get it from Apple.

I have a 20" Imac (aluminum) for sale.
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB of RAM
320GB of Harddrive space
OSX 10.5
Apple wireless mouse and keyboard

$1100 comes with standard OSX programs and clean install

So ........nobody has one for sale that comes with software that I NEED for using the Mac to do DVD editing?!

I've never even seen a Mac in person, much less any of the editing software, so buying & trying the different (editing programs & etc) ones avail, will be too costly, I would MUCH rather buy a Mac with some software already on it, even IF it meant (not to violate user agreements or anything) that in order to KEEP it I would have to re purchase a new copy. At least I could test drive something that was already loaded up, & not buy a program with a conflict like the intel CS4 one you all mentioned.....WOW ......BIG $$$ mistake!

Ideally I was hoping to buy something from someone doing what I am wanting to do (film w/ my HVX, & edit footage & make movie/clips etc) that was upgrading to the latest Mac stuff.

Anyone out there???
I live in TN & would be willing to travel.........
I'm a couple of hours SE of Nashville

PM's are welcome & thanks everyone for all the help/info! You're a great bunch!!:)

i cant imagine ANYONE selling a machine with legal software INCLUDED unless they were downsizing their studio or quitting the industry.

legal or not, people DO often sell a computer and leave software installed as teayce has done. and in your case that might be ok. yes, its technically illegal, but is the software police going to chase the buyer or seller down and fine them? most likely not - in fact ive never heard of that actually happening. but it could.

a more likely problem would be a couple weeks after you get your machine, the software crashes or some random thing goes haywire and youd need to reinstall it. not having the discs, youd be hosed - and imagine if you had a $3000 client project in the works youre now about to lose it because you dont have install discs. suddenly that $1200 you would have spent to buy the software proper wouldnt seem like so much money.

just to continue preaching at you... when i was young i would always copy the software from my employer. even though i was making money doing freelance work with it, it was never enough (or my perception was such) that i couldnt justify the thousands to buy it myself. once i got out on my own my first order of business was to get full legal installs of everything. it felt like a waste of money to drop thousands of dollars on something i really already had. but in the end its a very good feeling to know that your tools are yours and you have access to customer support and current updates etc...

so, buying a pre-loaded machine here from teayce (or on your local craigslist where you will typically find several similar deals) has its positive as well as negative points. consider your options and make the decision thats best for you.

Ideally I was hoping to buy something from someone doing what I am wanting to do (film w/ my HVX, & edit footage & make movie/clips etc) that was upgrading to the latest Mac stuff.

just as a point of education. buying an update to software IS NOT an additional install of that software (even if it physically is). it is simply an update to your existing license. you cant legally sell your old version. i mean you CAN, but if you planned to continue using your new version youd be legally compelled to buy a full new version.
