Why would they announce (first) a 300mm f2.8 lens? $5000 is an amazing price for such a lens but umm...no one uses 300mm. Spielberg apparently (and most others) shoot at around 20-27mm 99% of the time, and go up to 200mm for extreme space compression effect.
The 17mm-100mm lens sounds VERY promising, though. If it's similarly priced (and opens up to f2.8, although aren't cine lenses supposed to use t-stops..tsk tsk...) it will be an amazing deal.
Anyhow, I can't afford 17 grand at all but whatever...in five years I'm sure it'll be 1/2 that price or less and I can afford that (in five years) no problem. But I'll be so old then...oh well.
Looks like something from terminator. $17,500+$5000 for the 300MM, I wonder how much the Zoom will cost. And the BIG Question is what format will this record in??
Having 120 fps in 720p would be awesome. And 60fps in 1080 would be fantastic. Any video samples out yet.
