The video doesn't work for me :-( and matts first video was far from Uninvited. He made like 15 before that.
 
Why dont you like music videos? I think thats the best form of moving images myself. Well maybe not, good movies are great too but I just love music videos, the good ones atleast.
 
Mainly because they are short and you can bust out 100's of them in a year if you try hard enough. Thats cool to get creative in different ways and not be stuck on a project for too long.
 
My problem is that they all start looking alike. What's worse is that movies are starting to look that way too. All flash and no substance.
 
I think most people don't like music videos becasue;
A. The ones they play on TV are usually the crappy ones, the Popular culture videos that have no creative direction and are nothing more than advertisements for teenage boys and girls for them to go buy the album

B. Well, that first one pretty much sums up everything. There are some good Music videos out there, Michele Gondry, Spike Jones, Cunningham (Well, I grew up with their videos, so I am partial to them) all have some really good work, as well as the popular crap that got played alot. I unfortunatly think that the Record label has way too much input in the video, as to what it can and cannot be, therefore, lots of this creative direction is lost. Are overly made up fake "pretty" people singing in slow motion all that this culture can handle in their music videos? unfortunatly it appears like that.
 
Well just wait for my next music video to come out. I will do it all myself and noone will have any say on what will go into it but ME! Thats whats great about being an independent musicians/producer/videographer
 
People are just mad because he made it as far as he did being so young I think and just try to find anything they can to tear it all down. He is a cool dude and noone is perfect but he is just doing a great job right now.
 
What made you decide to say that people are against Matt as though you are his lone champion? Is it because someone posted that there is other talent on this board? Is it because someone else posted they don't like the music video genre?
 
I locked it down. (Mainly due to duplication on the thread)

I'm tired of the fanaticism that borders on stalking on this subject. I'm tired of everyone crying about it. Matt has talent, who cares how old he is? And who cares if someone is not impressed?

Personally, I was always more impressed with what he did with the DVX and the grading involved and not neccasarily the 'creative' measure in his work. In fact, I havent really seen the creative side yet; more re-hash. But that's okay. It's better that what I have done (and probably can do; I don't know at this point.........)

I've seen much more inspiring work since the Univited video; Rich Lee, Curugon, Prey Alone.....

I could go on.

These threads always start as:

'Hey check this out!'
'It's alright'
'**** you man! Youre just jealous!'

I mean get over it.

I've said it before; dvxuser is one of the first sites to pimp Matt hard, even invited (no pun) him over to the forum which he graciously accepted.

I look forward to what Matt may (or may never) does in the narrative world. In the mean time get over it!

Some people are stoked on him, some are not, some dont care, some are inspired, some are not......

There's peeps on this board that are 'making it in the biz' and I'm scratching my head wondering how after seeing their crapwork.

Matt kicks ass; and it's good and inpisring to see him making it. No need for animosity if someone is like "Eh' about it
 
Funny that this thread is a discussion about Matt and not the video. This new video is pretty unimpressive. I'm not harping on the kid, but this video is pretty eh..
