I have actually switched to my “b” settings. I finally decided that having 100% stability was better than having 100% quality. I now record both MJPEG and AVC-HD at a max bit rate of 40 mb/sec. The 100mb/sec settings I was using before were unnecessary because I was re-encoding it anyway.

My current settings allow me to get outstanding 720p in pretty much any situation. The manual controls really help with blown out scenes like sunsets and landscape shots. And the moon for that matter.

I will try to post some footage that shows the difference between the different shutter speeds later tonight or maybe this weekend. The water fountain videos that were posted on youtube were great though so my shots won’t really add much.

Any chance for an ini file with your current settings?, You sort of throw me off the track by the word "my" B settings.

I have updated my settings so that they will work with the current version of Ptool and you can enable the manual movie modes with them. I am using the settings with 100% stability because I have decided that in camera playback is more important than 100mb/sec because they are going to get re-compressed anyway when I upload them to Vimeo or Youtube.

Full HD with GF1

Full HD with GF1

I have some flickering on the camera screen during Full HD recording.
Is this ok or did I messed up in the p tool settings.


I am recording in AVCHD, don't have Full HD option in motionjpg.

Do I need to update anything in the ptool settings? Or should I just ignore the flickering?
