Wouldn't it be awesome

I was on a shoot this past saturady, and found myself negating my note cards. you know the notes you take after every shot, detailing the cameras settings (ISO, ShutterSpeed,F-stop) and what lens you shot with for a given take.

I had a thought, that would make all of our lives much easier.

What if inside of the video files' metadata the camera automatically records all of this info for you. That way, you can never forget what the settings were. Of course it wouldn't record the lens, but everything else is easily obtainable.

Canon if your listening, Please work this feature into a new upcoming line of cameras. Or Red if your listening, I'd rather you be the first to do this, as it would only increase your marketing points.

I'm just thinking aloud again, but what do you guys think.

Good idea----->Bad idea

it is totally standard on still photos
Yup. To take advantage of the feature on shoots, simply:
1) Use EF/EF-S compatible lenses, not adapted lenses
2) Take a still photo before each take or set-up

The data to which the OP was referring is known as EXIF data. Canon hasn't enabled EXIF data in video files yet, but the still photo trick outlined above is a simple enough workaround.

EXIF data is stored with videofiles but they only show in the camera. Press info when you have a move clip in view mode and you'll get all data from that file.

would the info be on a still taken in video mode? them you could just snap off a still one your video settings are in place...
