Would you choose the Canon 15-55mm f2.8 over the 18-135mm kit lense?kit lense?

I was wondering if you would you choose the Canon 15-55mm f2.8 over the 18-135 kit lense?
Would you give up the longer focal length of the kit lense for the better performance and constant apperture of the 15-55mm canon lense?

The 3 lenses i was thinking about going with are as follows

Canon EF 50mm f/1.4
Canon EF 85mm f/1.8
Canon EF 15-55mm f/2.8 or maybe the the kit lense instead.

Would i also need a fixed wide lense like a 28mm f/1.8 or will the canon 15-55mm cover me on the wide angle range even though its a zoom and not a prime?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you

The 17-55 2.8 IS is the best general purpose zoom lens available for the 7D/T2i. It's as sharp at 50mm f2.8 as the 50mm f1.4 is at f2.8.

The 50mm f1.4 at f1.4 is better in low light but isn't very sharp at that aperture and focusing becomes more critical because of the shallow depth of field.

IMO, the best lens to add after the 17-55 would be either a Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS or a Tokina 11-16 f2.8.

Forget the variable aperture 18-135mm,It will be a headache then worse. Stick to constant aperture zooms or primes. The 18-55mm is a give away lens so it's not so evil. I had to take the 18-55 with my T2 and I like it for a straight 18mm 3.5 for $100 but other than that I don't take it too seriously.

I agree with the variable aperture. It effing sucks! I hate that kit lens now. You can achieve some great images but for what I do, VA is the worst.
