FS7: Would You Buy A Panasonic AU-EVA1?

https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2016/03/mythbusting-parfocal-photo-zooms/
"that your and others point of touch screen "manual" focusing does belay the fact you have never really worked in the freelance professional field.... as that would patently not work and is obvious to any jobbing DP.

Please drop it Donny .
First of all I think you're wrong.
Second you've made this point many many time already.
Third you've totally hijacked a thread about a camera ruining it ...and most important:
Fourth you seem to be incapable of discussing anything here without insulting people. While mildly entertaining, it is the definition of trolling and it is not welcome on a professional forum. Please learn to be respectful and assume that everyone else here is a professional. If you think otherwise keep it to yourself.

I often suggest to other pros they can learn a lot on DVXuser but I am embarrassed when they have encounter this kind of behavior.

Jack - No you did work on my Nikon adapter for the F3 but never specifically on a lens. Good to know it can be done. My experience with my older Nikon lenses was they did seem to be pretty much par focal and had the same back focus so they locked in on my Prolock. Some of the newer lenses, 24-105 among them seem to be varifocal. I heard different opinions about the Sigma 24-105. Some people said their's was par focal but I tried a few that were wildly out. Was that bad consistency from Sigma or poor testing on the part of the owners I can't say.

what ? I was called a Moron and a fool wasn't I.. who have I insulted .. where is that post.. I have traded some barbs.. but I have not insulted anyone.. I seem to have to repeat myself as my point about AF seems to have been mis understood by some who read too much into it.. Michael himself said he had a day job and was not pro DP.. I have never said anyone claiming to be a professional wasn't ..chill out man..

The irony of the thread is the EVA1 probably barely auto-focuses, ha.

But, better here than a Canon section, lol.

Mitch triggered the whole thing by being vague about the AF capabilities which is a nonissue for real men who focus manually but is instrumental for girls. I think we should hold his feet to the fire.

Just stopping by to add: This is a forum that encourages freedom of opinion. I would certainly hope on a film making forum that could be undertaken in an educated and thoughtful way. There are a few posts veering away from this and its detracting from the thread as a whole. Please also keep in mind this is a thread on the FS7 forum that asks and I assume to FS7 owner operators / enthusiasts if they would buy an EVA1. There's the topic, please discuss.

Mr. Donny, Ive had a belly full of you. You have zero clue as to what my experience is using a follow focus, yet continue with your condescending unsolicited advice. you think you are making some kind of profound impact on my thinking. I never asked you to lecture me about Canons AF system, if I need that I will ask someone who has experience with it. Given your hostility to AF, I can assume you have never used it, nor perfected the technique, yet you school us all like the village idiot.

Last warning.

"when in fact you are only talking about one small aspect of professional videography."

imo that line inadvertently pegged the C200 and the market for the C200 correctly.

The Mitch!

If you made a version without those red lines I would be very happy. In scandinavia we cannot have stuff like that its all VERY hipster here. You can make a "northern europe" version in black cork?

I'll be sure to send the very finest black nail polish to you to address this.

Goign back to the original question. "(as an FS7 owner) Would You Buy A Panasonic AU-EVA1?"

I think we can see from the lack of focus in the thread the answer...

'hmm maybe If I broke my FS7'?

'not really'?

This camera doesnt appear to offer any specific 'must have's' especially when the spec is so wooly and there is no footage available. Ive also actually already forgotten the specs!

The C200 offers some clear things like AF which may (or may not!) be of use to ones specific work style and could inspire a camera system change.

If my 7 was nicked and I was sittign here with an insurance cheque Id certainly be looking closely at this camera before replacing the 7 - if it were in the shops.
