worst decade for movies?

But even as a kid of the 80's, in the 80's, I was able to appreciate films made before my time. One of my favorite films I discovered in those early days of home video was Treasure of the Sierra Madre. I think the original poster was just trolling.

But this thread did reveal a massive flaw in your character, namely your lack of respect for Weird Science. What next? Gonna dis on Real Genius? Better Off Dead?

I love Real Genius...I haven't seen Better Off Dead in forever "Two dollars!", but I used to watch it all the time. As I said, with Weird Science I was taking more about the disparity between seeing it then versus now. I used to love it, as any horny teenage kid would. Now, I merely find it amusing.

Thought I'd take a break from playing scales on my sitar to mention that I haven't seen 1985's Blood Simple mentioned.

Trolling... eh?

What about Troll 2?

And seeing as this movie was released in 1990... without a doubt, the 1980's are cleared of being the worst decade of movies.

I hope that is sarcasm

Me too. In fact, in my humble opinion, I feel it's the best decade in cinema. I'll name a few great films to start with:

The Godfather
The Godfather Part II
Apocalypse Now
One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest
Husbands
A Woman Under The Influence
The Killing of a Chinese Bookie
Opening Night
A Clockwork Orange
Barry Lyndon
Taxi Driver
Mean Streets
Network
Dog Day Afternoon
Serpico
Eraserhead
Aguirre, Wrath of God
Annie Hall
Manhattan
Slaughterhouse-Five
The Panic in Needle Park
Bed and Board
El Topo
The Holy Mountain
The French Connection
The Exorcist
Halloween
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Dawn of the Dead

That's just a few, not even a hand full. I don't think there is a worst decade though. I agree with whomever said every decade has masterpieces.

You know, if I were still 16, Star Wars would have been at the top of my list. But now its fallen so far off of my radar, I really don't associate it with great '70s films anymore. It's funny, when they finally released the unaltered original Star Wars films on DVD, I got them all the day they came out, and when I popped in the original Star Wars, and that huge title appeared over the epic blast of John Williams' score, shrinking into the distance, and the text crawl started, I really wasn't feeling it. I continued watching the film, until a thought occurred to me: "I really don't care about this anymore." It's like being intensely in love with someone and then having that moment where you realize you're over them.

You can get the unaltered films on DVD?

Last time I looked the only versions available were the tinkered-with messed-up crappificated versions Lucas started pimping in the 90s...

Yes, they're available (or were), but they're only the Dolby 2.0/letterbox versions which were available on laserdisc.

I've felt that way about songs, but never about movies.

And to add to your list:

Kramer vs. Kramer

Star Wars is great. :)

Yes. Friggin' great.

I LOVED the 70's decade. Hell, you could make a case for that being a stellar decade based on Clint Eastwood's work alone.

I have to agree that The Outlaw Josey Wales has yet to be displaced from my Top Five.

And, that's "Frahnkenshteen."
