Guys, gees. I'm excited for everyone getting the HVX. Good for you, I wish I could get one. I'm just mostly upset at the fact that those of us who are stuck with the DVX are left in the cold from what some people say here.

I'm glad a lot of you can afford the HVX and will be working with the new format. It just feels like a slap in the face to me who has a DVX and you people say it's dead. I still think I can make incredible images with my DVX.

No one get me wrong here. If you are already getting an HVX, then go ahead, and if you can afford when, then by all means get it! Work on your skills with the camera. I'm not pissed off guys, but I think everyone here is taking offense to what I'm saying or have said.

No sweat man. Keep shooting. I think for some people who don't have a camera it will make more sense to get an HVX because it's basically a DVX plus HD.

Stuck with a DVX?? Geez. You have a great camera to work with....
an HVX won't save anyone's ass on a project if they don't know what
they are doing.
As long as there is a need for SD...then don't worry about it.

Not taking offense, Justin, I see your point. I say we let it go and jump on delaro instead :cheesy:

I mean... better than z1? what the..?

EDIT: It's impossible to reply here, thread grows just too damn fast. Gonna have to quote from now on.

Yeah, well -
I don't have anything that'll display native 1080 anyhow. But take another look at that second clip, particularly part 2, where there isn't smoke obscuring everything. The color on the coke can and the various pieces of glass, lights, pool balls, etc. Notice anything different? Oh yeah, it looks twice as vibrant as the best DVX footage out there.
I don't care if it's standard, 720, whatever, but the kind of composition you can do with that color...phew. Good night.
I live in fear of HVX entries in SciFest.:embarasse

Oh get a life mister 2 posts... and come back when you know what you're talking about. ;)

The 720 clip is quite groovy. Not so sure I'm digging the 1080 clip though. But since I'm still struggling to come up with the scratch for even a used DVX, this bad boy is a bit out of price range for me.

Maybe Christmas 2006...

Of course one can make incredible images with the DVX. So why do you care if some users think the DVX is dead? Hey, I think standard definition is dead, period. Its all opinions man, no biggie. Unless someone directly calls you a dork, I'm not sure you should take anything written in these forums as a slap in the face. Who am I kidding, I don't think I'd even care if someone did call me a dork on a forum :)

Nothing; but I think I need to open at Home with DVD PLayer or something. It's telling me it's not an MOV File

John, a few of us had this problem. It's possible that you didn't download the whole file. Just retry it and see what happens.

come on guy, i don t care .... i m just giving my point of view, i don t really want to be part of a nerds fight. my feeling is just that a lot of people are waiting this cam for so long that, if the next footages we ll see are not better, it will take weeks before people start to say it s not as beautifull as they were expecting

Something seems very very wrong with the 1080 footage. Everything has terrible horizontal smearing. Back to waiting for uncompressed 1080p Tiffs. The 720 stuff seems to be lacking said smearing.

Any chance we could get a DIVX HD for us poor users who don't have 3ghz+ systems. Their codec is infinitely better compressed in my opinion. Or WMV HD. Quicktime HD, is in my mind rediculous, I have a 2.2 Ghz system with a gig of RAM, and their movies always lag even at 720p.

Philip, I am one to become defensive. This mostly occurs when people don't understand what I'm trying to say. So in essence, it's my fault for not fully making things comprehendable. I will save for an HVX, it'll just take me 10 years to get there, lol.
