Just on a second week of interviews and have really enjoyed the P2 workflow.
We have the HVX and 5 8gig cards and a 17 PB with 2 1TB Gtech Drives.
As we film we swap cards download through the laptop and direct copy the cards to the first HD. This goes on until we wrap. Than I use the second drive and import through FCP to view and organize files. Now when we leave we have two Raid drives with the full footage. We also have a P2 store on set for back up and also field use.
I have to say that I am beyond happy with the P2 process and cant wait for larger cards to show up.
We are using 720 24p only because we may mix 60fps footage later on. So this cut or P2 size down almost 2/3. This also cuts down the P2 store limit.
The P2 store is robust and works great. I hope the next generation will adopt FireWire and also a larger drive.
The direct PowerBook PCMIA is the best and would love to see the next gen MacBooks work out an answer.
