Hello Community,
im quiet new to the P2-System, and this is my first Project with this Camera.
We'll do a musicvideo,shooting with the AGHVX200 in DVCPRO HD 720/25p.
Some parts should be in slow-motion, i heard this should be done with a 720/50p take.
I read severall articles in the net already, about different Problems with the Workflow on a PC using Avid ProHD 5.7 or the older Version Avid Pro HD 5.2.

How is it in general when i take shots in 720/25p and in 720/50p ? can i mix them up in one Project, this would be obviously the best solution because it should be in one timeline.
What Project settings should i use for a 720/25p Project, the only setting i see next to 25p is 720/23,xxp.

I would be very glad to get some help on this issue.

Hi Philippsen,

Right now the only way to edit 720/25p in Avid Pro is using a work around. Edit in a 1080/25p timeline and transcode. This will only work with the latest version.

It works fine though it is a bit of a pain.

ok,
and then in the end export/render to 720 again?
And how is it with mixed footage-material, some in 25p and some 50p?
How do i deal with that?

Hey Phillip,

I've been shooting some hvx p2 footage and at college we have an Avid Xpress Pro 5.7 suite. I have a P2 footage folder on the footage drive. I copy the whole G: drive (the p2 card running through the camera) and paste it into the p2 footage folder. You can then rename the copied G: drive to "day 2 morning" or whatever. It just has to have the Contents folder and the last clip.txt there.

Start a 1080/25P project
I then go "import p2".
Find your "day 2 morning" folder. Select it.
And import. It will link the files to that folder. And won't duplicate them.
The only problem is everytime you restart your comp you will have to "re-import" all the folders, which could be very annoying if you have 20 or so. If you just import off p2 it links it to the p2 card. I tried consolidating the files with the p2 card still connected but once I imported the next batch it would lose the last.

Also,
any variable framerate stuff just plays at the 25fps. So if it's 50fps then it will play at 2x slowmo.

Hope that helps :)

(just finished shooting a Toyota supra ad. Will upload some stuff off it soon :).....)
