Reverse-telecining? That makes no sense at all to me in the context of video. Reverse telecine implies burning video to film, presumably for projection or archive.

It is veriously named, but the GH-1 encapsulates the 24 fps material in a telecined 60i stream. Hence, the need to 'inverse/reverse/remove' the telecine processed frames.

If someone has shot with one of the 'standard' video rates, of 60i, 30p, 50i, 25p, then no 'reverse/inverse/remove' telecine process is required.

There appears to be a hack to allow for 'native' 24p, however, I have also read that the hack is unstable, and many people still use the 60i format, albeit with the hacked higher bit rate.

Can anyone recommend a good 'mts' to 'mov' converter? Hopefully one that doesn't recompress the file too badly. I am shooting on a hacked gh1(3) with native 24p enabled, but I am editing on an old G5 QUAD system. Thanks in advance.

p.s.
I am editing in Final Cut Studio 2

Same question.. however, FCP 5.. I'm interested in purchasing a GH1, but I'd like to know how to get files into FCP 5. Another option may be to get files into vista somehow and transfer them to the mac.. Can anyone give an explanation on how to get the AVCHD files into either of the machines? Transcoding to an intermediary codec would be fine; I am aware that this takes time. I'd just like an alternative to going out to shoot with my HVX, and I really don't need / want to upgrade to a whole new editor ($$$).

I've used it with GH2 footage and I don't see why it wouldn't work with GH1 footage....you should download the trial and give it a go. Try transcoding to ProRes with it and rewrapping.

Audio is missing on the right channel from the clip that Rewrap2M4V creates - do you know any way to resolve this please? many Thanks

You can rewrap the MTS file to M4V using the free ffmpeg:
http://ffmpegmac.net/

ffmpeg -i input.mts -acodec copy -vcodec copy output.m4v

This will convert the contents without any transcoding.

AC3 audio can be processed on the Mac by installing the Perian components.
