Well i have "thinking" of getting an A1 in the near future. Just gonna check if i missed some in my calculation?

If I have the A1 and a CitiDisk and Vegas6

What would I need to record transfer and edit 25F?

I think you have it all right there. Just copy from your CitiDisk or possibly even edit from it.

25F is not a 50i stream, it's a 25F stream, which is why PAL Sony 50i decks can't play it. But Vegas can probably handle it anyway, it has no problems playing 24F. I can't figure out how to capture it, but I'm on Vegas 6 and it may be that capturing was added in version 7.

Vegas recognizes 24F m2t's from the H1 as a 24P file that can be edited in a HDV 1080 24P (23.98 fps) timeline. It shouldn't be any different when you setup an HDV 1080 25P project in Vegas. You should simply be able drag and drop the 25F m2t's from your CitiDisk into a 1080 25P HDV timeline and edit away.

Yes thats why i was thinking of the citidisk solution. But what if the hardrive would fail and i would need to transfer the tape. Can vegas handle the incoming stream or is it just the citidisk transfer that would work?

Thanks for all the answers by the way.

I have friends who capture (from the H1) and edit 24F in Vegas 6 and 7. It shouldn't be any trouble with 25F either.

In Vegas 6? I can see it happening in 7, but Vegas 6 didn't recognize the XHA1 at all. It wouldn't recognize Shannon's XLH1 either, and this is even a different computer. Are you sure Vegas 6 can recognize 24F from a Canon, for capture?

I know you can drop the files on the timeline, that works fine, but the capture app didn't recognize it. It's no big deal, really, because DV Rack works fine as a capture app, but I wonder if 6 can do it, why mine doesn't... :/

Well then I suppose I've made a mistake because I thought way back in the early part of the year Shannon was using Vegas 6 and having no problems with capture.

I think his problem was timecode capture in Vegas 6. Maybe he can chime in.

Did I hear someone call my name??

OHH...it's you Barlow... *smile*

Yes, Vegas 6.0d and all versions of 7 work fne with the Canon XLH1 in HDV mode. Barry, you never tried Vegas that day back in January during the shootout, it was DV Rack you were trying on your laptop @ the end of the day. At the time your version of DV Rack HD wouldn't work with Canon HDV, but Vegas 6 was working with it the day I took the XLH1 home back on December 17th, 2005.

ok, i'm gone. *poof*

I'm still confused about this.

Do I need a program other than Vegas 6 to capture my 24f HDV footage? It seems if Vegas can recognize it, it should be able to capture it.

If Vegas can't capture it, are there any free programs?
