Work Flow Questions

Can someone give me the rundown to using Pluraleyes on FCP 6?

- Do I put together my rough cut first with the footage then sync the sound?

I don't know the workflow for this or how to extract the HD footage from the camera, can someone help?

Thanks,
A

Card

copy contents to computer

convert files to pro res in Mpegstreamclip

drop proes files into FCP timeling
drop sound into FCP a different track
name your sequence pluraleyes
open pluraleyes
press go
wait
you get a new sequence called 'pluraleyes done' or something
this sequence will be synched .. maybe

Thanks Morgan for the reply.

How do you convert the file to Pro Res?

What is Mpegstreamclip?

Have you used Pluraleyes to no avail?

Thanks,

Hey Morgan, is there a reason not to use the new FCP plugin? The one that automatically converts the files to ProRes upon import to FCP? I LOVE the way it works, very similar to importing P2 media.. it uses the Log and Transfer window on FCP and imports directly into FCP...

Does the mpegstreamclip create "better" quicktime file?

Also... after syncing, what do you guys do with that sequence (the one that has the 5D's video mated with the good audio)? Do you just edit from that sequence, or do you create a new master clip from it and use that as your edit source. If you create a new master clip how exactly did you do it?

I ask because on my first serious project with this setup, I sunk all the footage (used pluraleyes; it was a short narrative film, and it worked most of the time); then I created referenced subclips from those sunk sequences, they worked for a while as regular clips in FCP. Somehow, the "referenced" clips lost their "link" with FCP (i think I moved them to another drive), and when I went to relink them, they wouldn't relink for the life of me.... I had to go back and re-sync and re-edit the project! Ouch!
