Does anyone know if the Wooden Camera NATO handle plus can be used with smallrigs 70mm safety rail?
I see the benefit of Wooden Camera's handle plus compared to small rigs handle.
But... the difference in price between small rigs safety rail and wooden cameras safety rail is $60
even when getting the wooden camera handle and rail kit.

Is there a huge difference in the 2 safety rails?
Should I spend the extra $60 for wooden cameras safety rail?

Thanks for all opinions

I have the 100mm SmallRig NATO rail, and it is compatible with Wooden Camera's NATO handle plus (as all NATO gear should be).

SmallRig's NATO rail is made out of lighter weight material than Wooden Camera's own rail, but there is less of a divide in quality for components with no moving parts like this NATO rail. When comparing components like 15mm clamps, the differences between SmallRig and Wooden Camera/Zacuto/etc. are notable, but no as much in this case.

That said, Wooden Camera's NATO Handle Plus is just costs a bit more than any of SmallRig's NATO handle, but it offers way more functionality. It's one of the best handles I've used. I've also included more details in this review of the handle.

Hi Sol, I figured that it should be compatible, but I just wanted to make sure, thanks for letting me know. In the interim I needed a handle for a shoot so I ended up getting the Wooden Camera NATO handle plus with their 70mm safety rail - even though it killed me to spend $80 on a small piece of metal.
I have to say that this handle is amazing The NATO mounting system makes the handle feel solid and completely trustworthy not to mention the versatility of this handle.
Very happy with this handle!
Question for you... If I get the small rig 100mm safety rail can this mount on top of the wooden Camera DSLR cage (small) and allow for additional gear to the left of the handle?
I realize that the attachment screws will be off center for the safety rail but will it be strong enough to hold something on the left side?

If you center the 100mm rail on the cage's top cheese plate, you'll only get an extra 15mm on each side of the handle to mount things next to the handle. This isn't that much when you factor in how much room your hand needs to comfortably grip the handle without bumping into a mic etc.

However, if you mount the rail so that the right end is closer to the center of the cheese plate, this will give you more mounting space to the left of the handle, allowing you to mount an additional item like a mic without it getting in the way when you grab for the handle.
