Woo Hoo! My Digital Bolex shipped yesterday.

This shot is from my new D16, auto white balance in Raw Therapee. Graded for contrast and detail, but color not adjusted. Skylight 1A UV filter on an Angenieux 12-120 HEC. 100 ISO f/4 180 shutter, ambient late afternoon golden hour sunlight 320fc 1/3rd stop under, exposed by a Sekonic L398 incident meter. Color balance temp 3622K. tint 1.19 shift to magenta, RB equalizer .957 blue shift. Nominal values for the program are 1.00, so pretty damned accurate color matrix in my book. Neutral DNG input in Adobe RGB 1998 color space, output in IEC standard sRGB color space 2.2 gamma.

Wow. That's a beautiful image. Congratulations on the new camera. I'd love to see some video sometime, and thanks for all that detail above. Fantastic!

The colors are rich but it looks strange... is it just me? the edges... it's like a photoshop effect was imposed... sorry but I think I'm tripping, pls some confirmation...

P.S. Super happy that u got your d16 Razz. Finally :) would love to see more

Yes it has been sharpened. Definitely pops the tomato, maybe I pushed it a tad too far.

Sample shot of our dog Olbie. He graciously agreed to do some GQ poses.
Same conditions and exposures as the tomato.
Processed to JPEG frame sequence in Raw Therapee
Spot white balance from the dog's muzzle. Used L*A*B tools lightness, contrast and chromaticity to adjust values and color saturation. Slight tweak to black levels. No color correction other than white balance sample.
Sharpened with unsharp mask and microcontrast by detail levels.
JPEG sequence imported to Lightworks. Final tweaks to the grade using HSV tools and scopes to optimize for H.264 output. Exported from LW using their default You Tube 720p encoding setting. Several practice encodings with tweaks between to match gamma to the original JPEGs.

I'm very impressed with the picture that at least some are getting out of this camera.

This video is just some boring, shaky footage of people walking around on the beach. However if you pay attention to the colors and tones, I'm reminded of 16mm film. In fact, my nostalgia is playing tricks on me, because if you google for actual Bolex 16mm footage, the Digital Bolex is sharper.

This is some better composed footage and well graded, although I would prefer to notch down the color saturation a step or two. The CCD seems to hold its own against vertical blooming. Even lights shining into the camera don't bloom, unless I think you make them white and then crank open the iris another stop or two. There is a shot of some cars in this video where I thought I was seeing blooming, but I guess it's just through a dirty windshield, the streaks are diagonal.

I still have my original Bolex Rex 5 I used in the 90s with the Angenieux 12-120 2.2. Is this the same lens? Picture looks beautiful by the way.
