Wireless Video

Does anyone know of a decent wireless video system (transmitter/receiver) that can go on the camera and is battery powered and compact? I'm looking for an inexpensive standard definition system that will allow me to send a live feed to a projector while I'm roaming around a medium sized room.. I'm not interested in those expensive microwave systems, just maybe a 2.4 ghZ or similar, that someone has experience using... Links would be greatly appreciated.. I'm looking in the $200-300 range for both the receiver and transmitter...

THANKS SO MUCH!

Generally speaking, cheap wireless sucks. Always.

It's fine as a confidence feed to tell you (or a director) what a camera is shootin, but that's it.

I hate to be a doomsday sayer, but wireless video of the price range you are looking at just won't work for any sort of signal for public display. It will glitch, have poor resolution and colors, glitch, snowstorm, etc. You are much better off buying some camera cable and hiring a couple of people to wrangel it for you.

Also, if this is a one off gig, your best bet is to rent a higher end system for the gig. It will work properly. Some worth looking into are the Wevi (www.wevi.tv) and D-cam (www.dcam.tv)

Thanks Mikko... is there any sort of delay on these systems? The other system I was looking at renting was the Premier Wireless BE-450... It is a 1 time gig

Never heard of the Premier Wireless kit, so I can't say much about it.

The Wevi has 0.5sec delay, which is it's only flaw. I was about to ask if that would be an issue.
D-cam however is the international standard for broadcast wireless. Developed by the BBC, it's used world over when wireless cameras are needed. Rock solid with no real delay. If you can get it, you can't really go wrong. Runs for about $300/day or so I think.

You should call Wolf Seeburg in LA. Don't expect anything cheap if you want good wireless video. His "spy" transmitter may work for you.
