prettty simple idea, ..im suprised nobody mentioned it yet. ..unless i missed it.
the idea is to have a built in, or add on wireless networking interface. allowing fast and easy GUI interface programmable control of the camera, and other things from wireless laptop or other device or controll. preferrably something equivilent to a mimo wireless N or better with security of course. thats the basic idea. the rest is just the reasoning behind it.
so.. what it for?
1. camera control.
-allows laptop or external wireless device to control all electronic or electronically controlled aspects of camera quickly and easily through interface software on a wireless laptop or custom control surface or devices. for some non limiting wireless usage examples, this would include:
wireless scene file selection and setup as well as quick and easy wireless access to full onbaord camera menu
wireless focus/zoom/iris/audio levels and mixing/recording start stop control all through laptop or other wireless interface or control
wireless recorded video and audio clip navigation and playback
wireless data transfer control, and wireless data transfer
wireless time code setup and synch to wireless master controller for multi camera/multi angle shoots
wireless frame rate speed ramping control while recording
wirelessly external pre-setup camera controls with automation for use during motion controlled recording or precision repeated camera moves
blah blah.. list goes on.. just wireless.
2. camera monitoring
-allows wireless viewing of camera image data such as:
wirless monitoring of image data ..such as vectorscope, spot meter, ect (think DVrack..)
wireless monitoring of lower resolution, or compressed proxy live image monitoring, and recordings
3. communications
-allows wireless communication
wireless voice headset communication IO to camera for directoral instructions to or from camera operator
wireless indicator communications for single or multicamera shoots allowing the camera operators to send and recieve visible signal indicators for orchestrated camera movement
4. device IO
-allows devices normally plugged to be connected wirelessly
networked wireless mic transmitters
..ect
5. quicker setup time, and increased saftey
less wires to lay and haul around, and less tripping and snagging hazards on the set. we've all done it...
anyway..the same concieved device could of course be controlled through a wire as well, but its all about wireless.
