Windows to MAC transcoding

Was so excited about getting the HMC150, encoded some footage, brought it into my PPC Mac and I get that "Unsupported" error. I've searched around and even though Toast is a great tool, is it possible to convert with a PC instead? My G5 goes slow on Toast, and my windows system is extremely fast! Is it possible for me to grab a hard drive and capture/convert on a windows and take it back into the MAC for editing (FCP)? What's a great converter/transcoding software?

Use the free AVCHD to DVCProHD converter which for some reason isn't available for the Mac.

That will give you the equivalent of a p2 folder.

Move that intact folder to a Mac, and ingest using log and transfer depending on what version of FCP you have.

Which version is it?

Sounds like a pretty simple and effective workflow.. thank you!

I have FCP 6 - latest version. Quick question, I know with Toast sometimes I have issues with audio not being in sync (not always, but sometimes).

Will I have these issues with the workflow you suggested?
