Windows 7 - today ?!?

Anyone excited about the release today? I have a free upgrade because I just bought a PC a month ago. I've actually been hearing good things about it from the Beta testers..

I installed Win 7 Ultimate x64 and so far really like it. A lot better then Vista Ultimate.

Ive been using WIN 7 64 for a couple months and like it alot. CS4 is running much more stable. If you make the switch from XP make sure you run dual boot system, and make sure you have hardware (MOBO-CHIP) that is no more than a year old. Also make sure you run 4 gigs minimum memory. FYI Encore does not like win7 64 bit! (But what OS does!)

I have installed Win 7 to may laptop and nettop. I also run it with Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 just to play it out. It works very well. The new taskbar is nice too. I have the RC version and works solid. No crash or bluescreen.

I've been running Windows 7 64bit for a couple of days now. Runs much snappier than XP. Massive problem I have though is that I can no longer capture HDV with my xh-a1. It captures normal DV fine but when I switch it to HDV is says "capture device offline".
Major bummer...

edit: just figured out the problem, had the camera on hd-sd conversion. doh! win 7 rocks!

Editing wise how do you guys feel about it. Is it worth upgrading from XP even though I don't experience any problems?

I'm usually the first to say if it isn't broken don't fix it, But I'm wondering if win 7 will make a difference with cs4 and more specifically AVCHD. I have plans to upgrade my video card and put a little more RAM in so I'm also thinking of doing win 7 as well. However I would like get some more info on it.

To Microsoft Partner Program Gold members, not the general public. Do you care to share any information about your experience with it?
To MSDN subscribers as well.

It does not feel faster than Vista. I experienced several BSOD's, supposedly related to hibernation/sleep and to attached external firewire HDDs. I am not the only one having this problem.

Thanks Cranky, good to know.

Been using it for several months with very pleased results. My only ***** is having
to wipe clean my evaluation copy to reinstall the full version and all the programs
I'm using.

Good luck.

did you uninstall Adobe than install W7? according to Adobe I should have been able to install W7 over than reinstall CS4.

Prior to W7 on Vista I was running a trial CS4. I just installed W7 and CS4 last night and now I get "some addon components failed to install for AE, FL, AI, PS and SB"

I followed the directions to the tee. Oh well, lets see what happens

I bought a new hard drive and did a clean install. I figured this way I'd elminate
any problems. Right now I'm dropping in my programs. Actually, I got half way
done with them. Should be finished by the weekend, maybe sooner.

It's moving along better than expected... Dare I jinx myself:lipsrseal

Good luck.

I bought one of those trayless removable system.

I will slap in a drive to play wiith Win 7. Since the Matrox card that i have doesn't have Win 7 driver yet, I will need to be on Vista 64 for quite a while.

I use removeable drives as well. I believe they're from a company called Icy Dock.
I have XP Pro x64 on a couple (one for audio and one for video), Vista which I'm
bailing on and now Windows 7 Ultimate.

I used the Matrox cards for years. Made the switch to Nvidia. Best move yet.
Great cards.
