Windows 7 P2CMS ?

Does anyone know of a good p2 CMS for Windows 7?

I recently switched over from HXA1s to HPX-170s and I am simply astounded to learn that the Panasonic's p2 CMS is not compatible with Win Vista or Win 7 64-bit operating systems. I am hugely disappointed with Panasonic, had I learned this before I probably would have not made the switch.

I am really tired of ingesting the clips one by one using one-clip or the entire card with the p2 viewer.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Check if the name of BIN (copy to) is not "ALL Virtual....", you must specify the destination directory (e.g. D\contents etc.) otherwise you cannot make copy any clips.
Right click the name of BIN field on the viewer to set the directory.

I love P2viewer very much and working well for my purpose (copying, viewing, filtering clips, and editing metadata) on Win7-64bit. I do not need P2CMS.

However, I am still not sure how to copy individual clips to different folders. ( Even after reading the manual posted by Mahlzeit1111 )

I have spent the better part of the day trying to get the contents of two 64 GB cards from yesterday's shoot onto my editing machine's HDD.
Ingesting stopped while using CMS. I have no idea why.
Had one more demo on ShotPut and that let me down.
So I'm back to doing what I did back in the old 16 GB days, drag and drop.
That failed on in one case and worked in another.
I find CMS confusing and the manual is of virtually no help.
As for ShotPut I want to have that fully figured out before spending a hundred bucks on something I find user UNfriendly.
I have to say it was one hell of a lot faster capturing from tape than ingesting from P2 cards IMO.
I use Vegas Pro 10, so any advice about ingesting to FCP is of no help.
Any simple solution would be most appreciated.
Want to get editing.

My current workflow is popping the P2 card into an ancient Gatway with a PCMCIA card, dumping to an external drive, then transfering to my editing machine.
Wide open to suggestions.

First, we must create a folder to copy clips in your PC (or removable or network volumes wherever you want!)


[Setting procedure: how to create a folder and copy clip(s)]

1. Creating a folder (called "Virtual P2 card")
1-1. MENU BAR > Tools > Setting Virtual P2 cards
1-2. Click a "new creation" button on the "setting Virtual P2Cards" window.
(refer to page-11 in P2viewer's operation manual)
1-3. Specify a directory (e.g. D:\backup)
1-4. Click "OK" button in the window.

2. Showing a directory
2-1. MENU BAR > View > Show the secondary bin (a pane will additionaly be displayed)
2-2. Right click a "bin field", which will be shown as "ALL VIRTUAL P2 CARDS" and change it to "D:\backup".
(refer to page-6 in the operation manual for the drive name field.)

3. Copy individual clip(s)
3-1. Drag a clip and then drop it to the secondary bin. That's it!

* As long as you create multiple folders, you can copy individual clips to several destinations by switching
with the step 2-2 above.

[Important]
You will not be able to copy any clip if the BIN name is "ALL VIRTUAL P2 CARD"
because the P2viewer cannot determine copy to which folder...

P2 Viewer seems to lack one critical feature: It won't let you play multiple clips in sequence. When more than one clip is selected, the Play button is grayed out.

I was using P2CMS on XP to play our daily footage, but since I've upgraded to Windows 7, that doesn't seem to be an option anymore. P2CMS won't install on Win7.

Does anyone know how to play multiple P2 Clips in sequence on Windows 7?
