I'd pay $300.00 for the update!

Please Sony...

I don't want to leave Vegas.

As if they can hear me :embarasse

They hear you Steve. This is talked about a lot.
I'm glad Gopher realizes there may be some discrimination going on there. I can't say there is or isn't. There's a lot that can't be said. And, there's a lot that has been said that isn't accurate.

Honestly, Spot. If you have some information to support the notion that Panasonic is somehow specially jacking up the DVCPRO HD license fee to somehow screw Sony and Vegas, then lay it out for us. Believe me, we'd be be more than happy to bug Panasonic if we thought it was warranted. Otherwise, it's just an unfounded rumor you're spreading.

I won't be in HD land for a long time.

By the time I can afford HD I'll be able to afford a mac... and I would get the mac first! I know several people with macs and every time I see them I'm simply amazed at the things they have going on their systems without even THINKING about it.

I just recorded some guitar and vocals last week and we had 4 mics running 4 simultaneous tracks and processing on ALL tracks while several OTHER tracks were being dumped and adjusted with loops brought in changed... several parameters of audio constantly changing on all tracks as my buddy was experimenting... all in real time... all effortless... all blowing my mind as I watch this guy doing this stuff on an imac!!!

Meanwhile I've got a 3gig P4 tower with $700 worth of 2-2-2-5 ram in it and all the bells and whistles and my machine is no where near that stable. I think I could do that but I don't know... my machine crashed out of Premiere so many times it's nuts.

FCP on a mac... no worries.

The question I would like to know is how much extra if any are users of the other NLE's (FCP, Canopus, Avid) paying to support DVCPro/P2? Shouldn't all things be relative?

I jave both Avid and FCPro.

I didn't pay anything "extra" for the FCPro support of MXF.

Yeah, but's that's Premiere, it will do it on any system, that's just the way Premiere works. Mcgee, I have to ask you though, how much did you pay for final cut pro, and did you get a full fledged DVD authoring program with an AC3 encoder as well? I too would pay for an upgrade to edit DVCpro, with full support for the MXF files.

Well, sure, unless you want to mix and export a 5.1 AC-3 file, use files other than Quicktime, not have to worry about pulldown issues, chromakey and composite without going to AE, drop files onto the timeline directly from a file folder, export a WMV, mix file formats and timebases without re-rendering first, completely customize your workspace, network render without buying complete new copies, switch project settings on the fly, etc., etc. . . .

Some good points David.. I have already switched but miss alot of things about Vegas.. it is very very very fast.. even things such as rolling the mouse wheel to zoom in on the track really saved me time. FCP studio though is a pretty powerfull little group of programs.

I hope sony does get on the roller here and hook everyone up.

Oh, yeah. I would *despise* working in any other app. But once the HVX is bought, I'll most likely even be shooting SD in DVCPRO-50, so . . .

I hope Vegas will support it because the HVX footage was the first hd footage to take my breathe away.I love my vx2000 but saw multiple examples of hdv and its very weak to the panny. I think panny will become the camera to have. Vegas better get on board.

I see the migration has already started. I've read a couple of posts of people switching to FCP. Sony I hope your reading this, you stand too lose more customers every day that you don't make an annoucement.
