With the FS700 release looming, and now that we know it's coming in at $7999USD, could it trigger a price-drop on the C300? What do you guys think?

Why should it?
The C300 has a better body, Canon mount, C-log and a few more advantages.
The FS700 does have a great overcranking-mode. But it can't compete with the C300 otherwise. So I guess the C300 will keepmselling well in its market, while the FS700 has its own slo-mo market.

I do like the C300's ergonomic design a lot better too. For $400, there is the Metabones electronic EF adapter for the FS700. The Sony cine-gammas are supposedly really flat, haven't had a chance to see them with my own eyes yet though. Philip Bloom used a really nice picture-profile in his FS100 "Portrait of a Boxer" clip, Frank Glencairn’s G-Log A: http://philipbloom.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Screen-shot-2012-04-09-at-17.18.20.png
Could also use a Blackmagic Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 - $345, and a Sandisk 480GB Extreme 2.5" SSD (Read 540MB/s, Write 460MB/s) - $490 (these are all Australian prices by the way) to record in ProRes 422 to get around the AVCHD codec - but there's nothing like a good internal recording I guess. Still, not bad for all under $10K!
I lent a hand on a shoot with a pre-release version of the FS700 today, all I can say is Sony should sell a ton of these. It's priced right and it delivers.
Amazing 240fps 1080 slow mo. Images reviewed on a 42" Samsung held up very nicely, (of course we shot all daylight exteriors), but once you see what 240fps looks like, you want to use this camera. It's a great 1080 camera, I'm debating whether to replace my F3 or use this as a supplement to it.
Thanks for the insight, Bill! Is there anything else you could share? What was the dynamic-range like perhaps? Did you get to shoot in low-light at all? Was the digital-noise "organic" looking like the C300's? Sorry about the questions (it's okay if you can't answering them!) - I'm just anxious for FS700 info!![]()
Didnt get a chance go analyze DR, but with the cinegamma settings and exposing for highlights the camera had a very smooth gradation from harsh light into shadow. It wasn't contrasty. And flesh tones looked great, very natural.
As for grain, in this light (daylight ext) there was none so I can't say.
