Will the Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 work on the T2i?

it is and FD lens, they do not mount on current EOS cameras. You'll need something like a "bower" adapter to put it on, however it has a glass element in it, you'll have light loss, and you can't open up past a f2.8 in most occasions without severe vignetting and a wicked blurry halo effect. and these are manual focus lenses.

i purchased a cheap adapter (FD to EOS) with lens on ebay and put it on a canon FD 1.2 - 55mm.
It works fine, but frankly, most of recent lens made for the EOS are good enough to avoid using these old stuff.
If you really need to adapt fast lens, you better go with nikon, since the adapter does not require any lens. I got a Nikon 1.4 - 50mm with adapter and it works well too, probably better than the fd 1.2 55mm with lens adapter who looks foggy.
anyway , i ordered the tokina 16-50 at f2.8 and i think it will be ok for most shots. I will keep the old lenses for night shots or just put them on bay.
