T2i will IndieFocus20 work with Canon T2i + Lenses?

will the indiefocus20 work with my canon T2i and my lenses? i ask because on their site they said it was designed specifically for Canon HV cameras. It makes sense to me that it would work but I just want to double check.

i WAS looking hard at the D-Focus but with a 4 week wait, and the same price, i like the indiefocus20 a lot more, what do you all think?

also, will the gears it comes with work with my lenses? i have:

(kit lens) 18-55mm (with that small little "lip" focus ring)
50mm 1.8 (also has one of those small little lip focus rings)
Sigma 70-300mm

here's a link to the indiefocus20:

*and before you recommend me to just get the Zacuto or Red Rock etc., this is all I can really afford :/

the nifty fifty should work fine, but I know that the kit lens won't. Not because of the HV camera stuff, but because the focus ring not only spins, but also goes in and out of the lens body. That means that the follow focus will come off track...

I have no experience with the sigma 70-300, sorry...

All that being said, I ordered one for my T2i that should be here Tuesday.
It should work fine with lenses where the focus ring doesn't move forward or backward.

I hope that helped,
JPM

I have an indifocus follow focus and there are certainly more times than not where i wish a hadn't bought it. as for the gear rings. they might have some trouble fitting on your 50mm 1.8 because it only has that small lip at the front element of the lens for focusing. the gear ring might not grip and stay on that surface very well. i know with my primes (28 1.8, 50 1.4 and 85 1.8) the gear rings fit, however the focus ring that they sit on is much larger and lies further down the barrel on the lens.

i didnt think of that at all on the 18-55 :( that sucks, all the more reason to pick up the 17-85 i guess :)

i saw a picture somewhere on here of someone putting a rubber band around the focus ring on the nifty fifty and then putting the gear over that to hold it in place. i wonder if that would work?

also i guess what it comes down to now is Indiefocus20 vs. D-Focus, is the D-Focus that much better to wait a month to get it? Or are they on par with eachother?

I have a nifty-fifty (canon 50mm 1.8) it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a lens gear on it. My other 2 lenses are stock zooms (18-55 & 70-300) IMPOSSIBLE to use a follow focus with as they move about like mad. Today I bought a Zeiss 50mm Plannar T*1.4; can't wait for it to arrive. Also getting a Sigma 30mm f1.4

My advice - get 'proper' lenses first, my follow-focus + rig is gathering dust.

Having said that I'll definitely get the D-Focus for my 2nd camera... eerrrrmmm when I can afford a 2nd camera. Have heard good things about it.

have you tried adding a rubber band to the mix? i *know* i saw somewhere on this forum a guy who used a rubber band wrapped around the nifty fifty's focus ring and put a gear over that and it worked. he had pics too.
