Wide screen

Ok so I always shoot in squeeze mode and maybe I didn't this time or what, but I don't remember what I did to get the black rectangles for the wide screen look in this video.

I uploaded into fcp and in the view the footage has no black rectangles. Then when I drag it into the time line it shows up with black rectangles in the canvas. Its the only time this has happened so I was wondering if I must have done something differently and not known it.

You need to check your sequence settings. If you have 16:9/anamorphic footage and drop it into a 4:3 sequence, it will letterbox the footage (add "the black rectangles").
