Wide Angle & Tele Lense Advice!

Hi Guys,

I have the Century Precision Wide Angle and Telephoto lense for my DVX100A. I believe they are 72mm. I also thought I read that the lense filter diameter is 82mm for the HVX-200.

If this is correct, is there an adapter available so I could use these two lenses on an HVX-200 which I'm comtemplating on getting.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Mark:

have you contacted or e mailed Century Optics?

given there are separate lense for the DVX and HVX, I would imagine the Century is the first contact.

Hi David,

No, I haven't. Probably a good place to start. I thought I'd check with existing HVX-200 users to get some first hand advice/experience regarding this question.

Thanks for the response.

The smaller diameter lenses would cause significant vignetting on the HVX, making step-down rings impractical.

Also, the DVX lenses are made for SD. Anything marketed for the HVX should be made for HD. So there's an image quality difference. Although I'm theorizing on this.

I'm in a similar situation. I shoot a lot of macro footage and am now shooting with a PD-150. I have 58mm diopters and stack two +7's and a +2 to get a nice magnification.

I've considered getting a step ring to use these on an HVX - since a 2.6 diopter that fits the HVX is $575. I'd have to stack several of these to get a good magnified image.

I don't think I would get vignetting with the 58mm diopters since I'll be zooming in all the way - but do you think the quality of the SD glass will affect the quality of my image? Or, do you think that the long zoom of the HVX with one 2.6 diopter would equal the magnification of the PD150 with the stacked diopters?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks,

Kent
