F65: Why the F65 is better than the F35

It's OK to love your camera, just don't LOVE your camera.

There was a great story about an actress (I'll not mention who) who won Best Actress years back at the Academy Awards, and apparently part of her victory celebration was to, well, get intimate that night with Oscar. That's being one with your art.

Just look it here what this poor chappy DP had to do with his F55 for the Netflix show Vinyl. People want to tell me this is all very "normal" and par for the course. It only proves my point.

I've been watching Vinyl and have been thinking that it's film-looked Alexa footage. They've done a great job making the F55 sing.
 
So, Geoff Boyle just said in the conversation with Dan Chung of the Newsshooter that he expects an F65 replacement.

Or, that's at least what I think he said. Sam linked the interview on the Varicam LT thread.
 
My inference off Boyle's comments - s35 sensor (he hates full frame) and an improved workflow with an off-the-shelf media. Presumably, offered at a lower price point too. Geoff was cradling Varicam LT rather wistfully.
 
I for one, really enjoyed this thread.

Ed, we need you. To help to keep things balanced. I admire when someone has the balls to go against the flow - and not just because they went against the flow but because they are standing up for that they believe in. Bravo Ed, bravo.

Online forums can be a sad pithy place - why do they keep banning you for God's sake? Because you tell it like it is and for some reason the owners of the site dont like it or because it goes against what THEY believe in .....so they ban you because they can. As we go forward in the Internet age we are all learning to adjust to this online reality.

I think its a disgrace that Ed has to post under a pseudonym rather then his own name.....simply because he is not allowed to post under his own name. Come on people, you are all film makers here....you are supposed to be AGAINST censorship at ANY level !
