Why no class action law suit against Canon?

I picked the 7D section to post this simply because I own one. Now don't get me wrong, I love my 7D, and I actually prefer to shoot with it, but if test after test show that these hybrid DSLR cameras are unable to resolve more than 600 lines of vertical resolution in HD video mode, and HD specs are 720-1080 lines, then shouldn't Canon and the others be held accountable? I mean, it can't just be me that sees this as being a little misleading.

I think the spec refers to the raster size rather than resolved lines. In that respect Canon are ok.
I would be more concerned with eg the DVCPro HD spec in that respect since even in PAL it's only 1440x1080 like HDV.

Canon said it shoots 1080p video. And it does - the video that comes out of it is 1080p. What it resolves is a whole other issue, and Canon has never said anything about that.

And if we started suing companies for making cameras that resolve less than 100% of their raster size...boy, we'd have a mess.

Don't waste your time. Just find an HD camera that is up to your spec requirements, shoot something, and make money at it.

I think you should lite some oil torches, get some pitcforks and circle canon's coroprate headquarters.

And shoot it with a 'real' HD camera. Of course if you do it at night, you're going to need that high ISO....... Dilemma there
