why is there no good quality?

uncompressed AVIs or MOVs will not playback smoothly with the media players on your computer (WMP, Winamp, VLC, whatever) -- the bitrate is too high.

I think he's refering to "uncompressed" as the raw unedited footage off the camera and not actually uncompressed .avi footage. The .avi file he gets from capturing should run just fine.

A pulldown is when the encoder adds extra frame to your 24 frames footage in order to make it 60 frames. This is because a firewire can only output a 60i stream and not a 24p one. There are two common types of pulldown: 2:3 (24p) and 2:3:3:2 (24pA). 2:3 is when you double and then triple every other frame (12x2=24 + 3x12=36 =60). And you can do the math to figure out what 2:3:3:2 is.

When your footage is imported into your NLE, the program automatically detects and remove those extra frames, giving you 24 fps. That's why the footage looks fine inside the timeline. Generally, 24pA (2:3:3:2) is preferred because the way the pattern works out makes it easier for the NLE to remove the extra frame, and thus yield higher quality. However, because the pulldown pattern is more complicated, if you try to view your unedited footage in a player before the pulldown is removed, there will be a jittery effect that you're been experiencing. That's why everybody has been telling you that you shot 24pA instead of 24p. I guess you just haven't understood it until this point. In one of your earlier post it seems like you've been exporting your footage WITH a pulldown, which is bad because you just took 24p footage and made it 60i. Try exporting WITHOUT the pulldown (this is for you Prolost :)) and you'll see much better results.

how do i export without a pulldown?? i have vegas and premiere pro, but just havent used premiere pro much. Thank You

Usually there's a check box somewhere in the render menu. Or you can just make sure that the framerate is 23.976 instead of 29.97.

Don't export as DV. Export as WMV or QT. Make sure the frame rate is 23.976.
