GH2 Why is the hacked GH2 so awesome?

The GH3 seems to have a more solid image quality and better motion quality than the GH2 to me.
Noticeably better DR even compared to a hack.

Never had that issue...but then I don't cheap out on cards.
I use Sandisk only 95mb/s (don't think you can get better than that) and I've tried a range of hacks, Cake was reliable for events filming but I even had that fail a few times.

I don't accept that there's a hack that is 100% reliable for all lenses in all circumstances, I've managed to crash everyone I've tried sooner or later. Admittedly it doesn't happen too often but I mainly record live events so I can't do a retake if I go get caught out.

Is it really so hard to think the GH3 would be better?
The GH2 was better.
ALL the DSLR's are going to get better with each cycle.
I'm just glad we now have a certain "minimum standard" I.Q. with the GH2. It's so cheap it's insane, and the images will always be of a quality that properly preserves the subject matter.
This should hold true until we all get spoiled on 4K video...but that's still a bit of a ways off.

That's right the hacked GH1 is ways better than the just releassed GH2! Why did Panasonic waste its time, research, money on the GH2? We are so happy with the hacked GH1, we don't need the GH2! Ooops!! I thought I was back in 2010 sorry!

I think the GH2 was a much bigger improvement over the GH1 than the GH3 is over the GH2. GH3 is great. But if all you need is great looking 24p, the GH3 doesn't really improve enough over the GH2. This is my case.

This is where I'm at.
All of the weatherproofing etc doesn't really matter to me. It's all about the image quality. And I really don't see a reason to upgrade - not when I see BMCC footage doing the rounds.

At least in the UK there's certain to be a price drop in the GH3 sooner or later as it's still overpriced by at least £200 (part of the reason I think Panasonic released it in the UK earlier than some regions, to put early adopters off considering imports).

Who knows they may even do a decent package deal with a lens and a battery grip in which case it'll be an easier upgrade choice to make for those currently on the fence.

I'm in the UK too - the cheapest I see the body for is £1200.
On Amazon UK it is still £1600.
That's just ridiculous seeing as the BMCC can be had for £500 more (if it ever materialises).

Bob has said it for me.

In the end it's image quality that matters.... from what I've seen so far, the Gh3 IQ improvements are pretty marginal.... unlike the light year leaps with the BMC.

As I already have 2 gh2's.... love them to hell, but for me... buying a gh3 is almost like buying another gh2.... sorta that "been there, done that" feeling....

Now a BMC would certainly rock my boat.

Just a little reality check. Don't forget that althought the cost of the camera is only 500 more, add at least another 500 to that if not more for SSD's, battery solution and HD storage for all of your footage. I know the BMC is around 3 grand over here, but I'd probably need to spend close to 4500 to get something working that could get me through a day of shooting.

Plus another £4000 for a PC that can handle RAW video editing in a speedy manner. :badputer:

On Amazon.co.uk it's actually slighter cheaper to buy with the 14-140mm lens rather than body only http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-D...DEQ6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354896775&sr=8-1

Rather suspiciously every single retailer (Wex, CVP, SRS, Park Cameras etc) is selling it for exactly £1199. Anyone would think that as we don't have Resale Price Maintenance any more that there was an illegal cartel among the retailers to all agree on the same price.

BTW The price in Europe for the GH3 body only is €1199 i.e. £970 (all prices including VAT) although they are not due in stock for Amazon.fr until next week http://www.amazon.fr/Panasonic-Comp...NUH6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354897291&sr=8-1

I highlighted this point to Panasonic (assuming they read their Twitter feed, though 43rumors.com kindly posted my rant too) when they first priced up the GH3 for the UK when it was £1499, I was about to raise the point with an MEP when the price suddenly dropped to £1199. Whilst it still looks suspiciously high, it's probably not enough over the European price to easily prove there's price fixing occuring.

Incidentally Panasonic has been caught red handed and been fined in other markets for price fixing.

Unfortunately, for all practical purposes the BMCC has been vapor-ware for the past 7 months. I have a funny feeling its going to be NAB 2013 before you can walk into your stockist and walk out with a mft BMCC under your arm.

Oh, uh, ok, how about its “inconceivable” that a BMCC mft will be available to mere mortals in any reasonable time frame?
