GH2 Why is color more vivid on manual

Yes why is the color more vivid using manual than in P mode on my GH2,I have only recently started using manual because P is far easier,i dont know if my camera has a fault at times the color gets more vivid as soon as the camera starts recording as well, green is the most noticable color where the difference shows bright grass etc, this is realy frustrating as everyone says manual is the way to go with these cameras,i can not think it is anything to do with the film mode[i use smooth]and the color setting should not have to be adjusted in manual compared to P surely, any advice please its a concern for me

What P mod do you use?
The one on the knob on th right? -> don't use that. This one will not film in 24p. It does H or SH video mode. 60i (gross)
The one in the Q-Menu in the Manual video mode? -> you want this. Within the manual video 24p, you can set the iris and shutter to auto.

Anyway when if comes to video: Don't use the P mode. This will cause the shutter to vary which you don't want. Use the S (shutter priority) mode, where you set the shutter speed to 1/50 or 1/60 and then it manages the iris by itself.

If you use the P on the knob the image will be totally different because it is a different way of recording.

Regards

Thanks for the reply,i am talking about P mode in the exposure menu P/A/S or M,i have recently been using manual as most seem to advise this but you say shutter is less trouble and manages the iris but not with light flick i presume when panning as P mode does,i must stress record mode 24P 720p is nothing to do with this but what i dont understand is recording a set scene with exposure on P and Manual why color vividness would be more on Manual and even get more still at times when recording starts.

In that case, I don't know. One of the only thing I can think of is that the camera, as it is changing the settings puts the image on the key light, and compared to a over or underexposed shot the color may differ. But I guess it's not the case for you as you probably tried to get the same image on screen.
I did a quick test and do not see any light difference.
Why are you talking about 720P You can't shoot 720p24, it's either 720p30 and in that case you are not in the 24p mode?

P, A or S while in Motion Picture mode will default to auto ISO, although you can then change it manually.

M doesn't have auto ISO - so maybe M looks different because the ISO will be a different setting.

Thanks i dont use 24P as its hard to edit for me and i live in a pal area,i use 720P or 1080i,1080i is the best i have had from any cam or camera.
Also i have found my GH2 is hopeless on shutter mode as my gh just clicks and flicks different light ranges whether the ISO is set on auto or any number plus in low light on shutter mode the iso has to be set to 3200 to let light in,so mine does not manage the iris in this mode,i feal i have a dud.
