GH2 Why GH2 over the canon equivalents?

Kholi (or anyone else) any experience with the Red 18-85? I've heard it's heavy as hell, but I'm more concerned with the image.

I might be able to grab some footage for you today from the 18-85. It won't be anything spectacular, though.

Trust, it is heavy. All of the RED lenses are stupid heavy. =[

The footage I just 5DtoRGB'd of just randomness with the 18/1.8 RPP wide open was rather awesome. Different look, very sharp, contrasty, but it's resolving well beyond what this combo should be able to do.

My Canon FD's just feel wrong. Someone point me towards some dirt cheap lenses I can get that may improve my mood :) (guess its time to hit the local pawn shops for some Nikkors, craigslist is overpriced and eBay is still to much at this point.)

kohli/kholi ?? sorry forgot lol
Thakyou i learned a lot from your posts here

Nooo problem at all. Always down to share info, everyone should also test and explore as well. Never know what you'll find.

I just thought about something, maybe you should try not 5DtoRGBing your footage because you work with FDs. They should be pretty low contrasty to begin with?

Yes, they are. Wouldn't 5DtoRGB still help to pull out some of that additional detail though? What I need is to stop just shooting around the house, but pull all the lights out and work in a proper environment, it's just hard to nail down a time when I can have a warm body to sit around and be my test subject.

It would still help, not so much the extra detail but with the overall conversion. IF you run into an issue with how flat it is, try either removing the 1.8 flag in 5DtoRGB. And yeah, human subjects are great for testing.

I'll give that a whirl. Wish FCPx had a denoiser plugin, even in a perfectly white balanced situation I run into a lot of noise.

Sage has a theory that some of the settings do not take on first hack.

What you could do is re-patch it with the same patch, just a higher firmware number. See if that helps the noise at all. But, you will see a fair amount either way, or you should, anyway.

Interesting, then we fall into the pit of things being subjective unless you're in a controlled environment. (Though, there may be a very obvious difference)

Watching Sherlock Holmes tonight reminded me that some noise is fine, as long as your content draws enough focus your audience will likely never notice (I kept trying to look for it but kept getting drawn into the story, and completely forgot about it).

Khoi,
The recording limit counter changed when I applied te hack. I'm guessing that has no bearing on whether or not the full hack was applied?

It does, definitely. It should change once you apply it. Sage said settings within the patch may not take.

Just make sure you don't let the battery run out when you re-patch. Keep them charged.
