Why Does This Happen?

I was using the HMC150 to document a Powerpoint presentation. The camera recorded everything just fine away from the screen, but through the LCD viewfinder the projected images kept shifting from red-to-green undertones without settling, as if the AWB couldn't make up its mind. The results on the computer looked just the same. This never happened on the DVX100 after I made an initial exposure adjustment. What am I overlooking here?

Thanks!

You said it yourself... You're not setting a custom white balance or using a preset; you're using AWB. Set a custom white balance or use a preset.

Another possibility is that you're shooting a higher resolution than you're used to, and you're seeing a moire effect from the rows of pixels on the projection.

Post some footage or a full-rez screengrab?

Or, you were shooting under fluorescent lights and you were using a high shutter speed. Make sure you're using 1/60th (in the USA/NTSC areas) or 1/50th (if in PAL territories).

That's a great example image. Mind if I use it in the future?

Just noticed your cam was set on AWB. The HMC auto white balance is rubbish and drifts around, often with a lousy attempt at colour. Always use a preset, then it won't hunt around and if it's not spot on you can adjust in post.
