I don't hate George Lucas at all.
When I was a young kid I disliked Star Wars. It wasn't until I was 12 or 13 that I started to like them. Before that I said things like, "The acting is horrible. These are kind of boring." I always loved the music, though.
I think puberty may have played a part in why I started to relate to Star Wars. I saw Luke, a young man setting off on an adventure and finding his own way. As a young kid I didn't think like that. I had the comforts of feeling like I was going to live forever, and that any adventure was meaningless. I could go on so many that a mere adventure seemed frivolous. It dawned on me that we do only live so long and only so many things happen in a lifetime. To me, that gave Star Wars more weight and I started to take the mythology seriously. However, I still appreciated the vibe of Star Wars even as a young kid.
I don't think George Lucas is any worse than Peter Jackson who seems so worshipped these past few years. I feel a lotta playa hatin' when it comes to Lucas bashing. It's like the Kevin Smith thread. Everyone seems to be like, "Oh yeah Kevin Smith, he's cool" until he wins an award. Then it's like, "That bastard, what is the world coming to?! How could he win an award like that?". I'm not saying that I agree or disagree....just a lotta playa hatin' goin on yo.
