Why do you hate George Lucas?

I don't hate George Lucas at all.

When I was a young kid I disliked Star Wars. It wasn't until I was 12 or 13 that I started to like them. Before that I said things like, "The acting is horrible. These are kind of boring." I always loved the music, though.

I think puberty may have played a part in why I started to relate to Star Wars. I saw Luke, a young man setting off on an adventure and finding his own way. As a young kid I didn't think like that. I had the comforts of feeling like I was going to live forever, and that any adventure was meaningless. I could go on so many that a mere adventure seemed frivolous. It dawned on me that we do only live so long and only so many things happen in a lifetime. To me, that gave Star Wars more weight and I started to take the mythology seriously. However, I still appreciated the vibe of Star Wars even as a young kid.

I don't think George Lucas is any worse than Peter Jackson who seems so worshipped these past few years. I feel a lotta playa hatin' when it comes to Lucas bashing. It's like the Kevin Smith thread. Everyone seems to be like, "Oh yeah Kevin Smith, he's cool" until he wins an award. Then it's like, "That bastard, what is the world coming to?! How could he win an award like that?". I'm not saying that I agree or disagree....just a lotta playa hatin' goin on yo.

I just don't get the Star Wars religious experience. It was just a movie. A good movie, but not great. I'm wondering how you separate the Star Warriors from the Trekkies.

That is just wrong Blaine, I'm not even gonna go into the whole Trekkie and Star Wars stuff, there might be some Trekkies here I don't want to offend, but to me it's like night and Day, you may not understand but it is. Star Wars to me is more about the story then the special effects and stuff...

The point I'm trying to make about Lucas is that, as an indepent film maker myself I can relate to his struggle in the begining, stories like his should inspire us all.

I don't really hate him guys. It's a choice of words, that's all.

The orginals RULED and the next ones were nothing. He should not have messed with the originals for one could mess with every film ever made for eternity; replacing the shark in Jaws would really just take it, huh ?

Lucas has done an enormous amount for the cinema and beyond. Thank you George. But your 'It' days are over.

SO, I don;t really hate him; I don't know him and I don't care enough about SW to be that passionate. It's a bummer the franchise is left but a glimmer.

I just watched the AFI lifetime awards with georgy-boy.

I still hate him for ruining Star Wars.

But ILM is one of the greatest companies ever. And I love him for that.

It's a love hate thing.

The stupid genius that he is.

I appreciate him for the Pioneer he is now. He was a great filmmaker before, but I think he was also a different person. Therefore his films were different then. Now, I respect him as a pioneer in the digital age. I mean, he pretty much pushed for the 24p line of cameras. We should thank him.

For all the Star Wars nerds out there. Enjoy!
