Why do you hate George Lucas?

I'd like to know why so many of you hate George Lucas. I've read alot of stuff in this forum and it seems like so many people hate Lucas. Aside from the fact that he screwed up Star Wars with the latest releases, but I always thought Lucas was one of us, one of us meaning the underdog.

I'm pretty sure many of you have seen the Documentary "Empire of Dreams" his story basically is the story of every indie film maker trying to get his stuff made. I don't want to preach about Lucas, but I thought alot more of you guys would like the guy, if not for the Original Star Wars than for the strugle he went through to get them made.

For those who hate him, explain yourself, I'm curious to know why.
 
He is the ultimate indie filmmaker.

I count my time at Skywalker Ranch as pushing me over the edge to leave hollywood and stake out on my own.

I respect Lucas as an incredibly brilliant business man, but an awful filmmaker... I don't like Lucas the director, I like Lucas the producer/CEO.
 
I think George Lucas is a genius of supreme levels...I love ALL of the Star Wars movies....I love THX...Star Wars as both a series of movies and a religion has changed my life forever.
 
I don't know him so can't say if I hate him or not. But I hate his sense of humour. Ewoks, Jar Jar, Those stupid ship attacking robots in the first few minutes of Episode 3. Episode 1 commentators during the pod race doing their stupid dance.

I think he's gone down hill actually. Episodes 4-6 were good (Except for the end of 6) and the others were crap. Crap actors, crap story, crap humour.

But, he's rich and making films and I own an XM2 and shoot corporate video's from time to time, so I do admire him for that.
 
I like old Lucas, I don't like him exactly because of what you said, he screwed up star wars. The first star wars movie was one of my favorite movies of all time, then he started making the new crap with computers, and technology.
 
I don't think anyone here Hate's him, unless you know him it's really not possible, sometimes people just think he goes friggin nut's with the digital though.... I think the original starwars films were amazing, still are..... I didn't enjoy any of the new films. Maybe he should try to struggle a bit again in some form instead of throwing millions and millions at his films.

P.S. How'd you know he was one of us.....

yeah it seems that he made better films when he had to struggle. Art is like that though...lots of people work better when their life isn't going so well.
 
Because I simply can't believe that the brilliant talent that lensed THX1138 is the same person that directed Episodes I, II, and III. Also, WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH HIS CHIN???
 
I hate Lucas.

That's right. Hate him.

I'm sure he's a swell dude and all but he's the man that ruined star wars for me.

I'll never forget "episode two".
